The Republic of Kenya hosted the 59th Annual Meeting of the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the 50th Annual Meeting of the African Development Fund at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi from 27–31 May 2024.
The five-day high-level gathering brought together approximately 9,000 accredited participants from 81 member states, including Heads of State, ministers, senior government officials, private sector leaders, development partners, media, academia, and civil society representatives.
Held under the theme “Africa’s Transformation, the African Development Bank Group and the Reform of the Global Financial Architecture,” the meetings featured high-level debates, side events, policy dialogues, and cultural engagements that addressed key issues including Africa’s debt challenges, economic transformation, and financial system reform.
Following a competitive Request for Proposal (RfP) process, Red Oak Communications Ltd was appointed as the Event Management Consultant, supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of the meetings.
Impact
A key outcome of the meetings was the approval of a $117 billion General Callable Capital Increase by the AfDB Board of Governors, raising the Bank’s authorized capital to $318 billion and strengthening its capacity to finance development across the continent.
Through its role in delivering this major continental event, Red Oak Communications contributed to the successful organization and execution of one of Africa’s most significant financial and policy gatherings.
